31st Ave Open Street has been awarded an NYC SBS Public Realm Grant to commission murals on and around the Open Street this fall and next spring. Our goal is to ensure that the murals reflect the authentic voice of the neighborhood by hosting 4 community tabling sessions on the Open Street. 

Each session will invite neighbors to quickly draw or write contributions that will be gathered into a digital book that will be provided to the muralists to help ensure their proposals are grounded in community input.

The sessions will follow the spirit of We’re Making a Book, Y’all!, facilitated with volunteers from 31st Avenue Open Street, and Queens Collaborative. The larger project is artistically guided by previous muralist Talisa Almonte of Almonte Studios.
